This album is a concept album about the joys and horrors of pregnancy and childbirth. It was very important to me that the cover art conveyed the sentiment of my journey over the past few months. The dichotomy of the Madonna and the Whore. The idea that me as a sexual being and my body as a vessel and gift to my child are two concepts that can co-exist peacefully and powerfully. My body has belonged to the world in many different ways the past few years, and this image is my means of reclaiming my autonomy and establishing my pride and strength as a life force for my human being.
The film features music from the album. Rolling Stone reported that the film incorporates fantasy, drawing visual influences from American television series Game of Thrones and the 2006 film Marie Antoinette, alongside themes of motherhood and mysticism in its storyline.[48] Halsey was styled by American stylist Law Roach in the film; Halsey's own beauty line, About-Face, was used for her makeup.[49] The opening of the trailer states, "this film is about the lifelong social labyrinth of sexuality and birth" and "the greatest horror stories never told were buried with the bodies of those who died in that labyrinth."[50]

The imagery of breastfeeding on the cover art serves to break this dichotomy and the stigma of motherhood: A mother is surely just as powerful and dominant. In connecting the image of the Madonna with the regal portraits of Victorian royalty through the cover art, they have equal value in their eyes. The album is both inviting us into the power of a sexual being, as well as the power of a mother.
But Halsey commands this terrain with ease, making several daunting vows ("I'm not your daydream, I won't have your baby," "I come loaded with the safety switched off") before delivering the song's most memorable, fatal wink: "Let me show you how to touch my trigger."
Again, really love the lyrics here, but I have to hand it this time to David Grohl's formidable drumming skills. He provides the perfect driving force, equal parts precise and feisty, like a memory that returns with a vengeance at 3 a.m.

On top of the moving lyrics, I love a title that doesn't appear in the song itself, but manages to deepen the message. "Ya'aburnee" is an Arabic term meaning "you bury me," expressing hope that a loved one will outlive you, because you can't imagine existing without them. I couldn't imagine a better way to finish this journey.
